Watching birds can be fun and relaxing… until you spot a bird you can’t identify. It has driven many a backyard birder crazy (including us) trying to figure out who the new backyard visitor was.
With over 150 different species of birds that live in the US and Canada, identifying birds can be challenging. The great news is that there are several websites and apps to help you quickly identify your new feathered friend.
Here are some of my favorite “go-to” bird identification websites:
Once you have identified the bird, do you keep track of how many times you see that bird each week? month? year?
Do you track what type of food they are eating or where they are perching?
By tracking when you see them, what they are sitting on and what they are eating, you will be able to know when to put out specific types of food for your favorite birds and when you are most likely to see them.
